INTENDED USE
The Avian Salmonella spp. Antigen Rapid Test is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay for the qualitative detection of Avian Salmonella spp. antigen (Salmonella Ag) in feces from bird’s cloaca or ground. Eggs contaminated with Salmonella could also be detected with the auxiliary of enrichment broth.
Pinciple
Salmonella Rapid Antigen Test is a rapid screening test designed to help detect Salmonella antigen in birds and poultry. Salmonella infections can contribute to diarrhoea, poor growth, reduced hatchability, weight loss, increased chick mortality, septicemia, reduced egg production, and ongoing flock health issues.
Young chicks and immunocompromised birds are generally at greatest risk, although adult birds may also act as carriers without showing obvious clinical signs. Salmonella may spread through contaminated environments, feed, water, eggs, equipment, or direct bird-to-bird transmission.
Suitable for backyard poultry, chickens, chicks, turkeys, pheasants, pigeons, aviary birds, mixed flocks, and wildlife rehabilitation cases, this rapid antigen assay may be used as part of broader avian disease investigation and biosecurity screening programs.
