Product Description
- INTENDED USE
The FHV Ag Rapid Test is a fluorescence-based immunoassay designed for the *qualitative detection of Feline Herpesvirus Type 1 (FHV-1) antigen* in feline ocular/nasal secretions or conjunctival swabs. This test assists veterinarians in:
- Rapid diagnosis of acute FHV-1 infection in cats with upper respiratory symptoms (sneezing, ocular discharge, or keratitis)
- Differentiating viral vs. bacterial conjunctivitis
- Monitoring viral shedding in multi-cat environments (shelters/catteries)
Note: For veterinary point-of-care use. Results should be interpreted alongside clinical signs.
- TEST PRINCIPLE
The test utilizes a lateral flow fluorescence immunoassay format:
- Sample Application: Specimen reacts with fluorescent nanoparticle-conjugated anti-FHV monoclonal antibodies in the test cassette.
- Antigen Capture: FHV antigens form complexes with antibodies and migrate to the test line containing immobilized FHV-specific antibodies.
- Signal Amplification: Accumulated fluorescent nanoparticles emit strong signals under UV excitation (365nm).
- Result Interpretation: A portable fluorescence reader provides objective qualitative results (Positive/Negative) within 8 minutes with >95% sensitivity vs. PCR.
Key Features:
- Early Detection: Identifies viral antigens during active replication (3-7 days post-infection)
- No Cross-Reactivity: Specific to FHV-1 (no interference with FCV/Chlamydia)
- Semi-Quantitative: Fluorescence intensity correlates with viral load (reader outputs S/CO values)
Optimal performance requires proper sample collection from active lesions before antiviral treatment.
