INTENDED USE

The “Feline Giardia (FGia Ag) Rapid Test” is an in vitro diagnostic assay designed to qualitatively detect Feline Giardia lamblia antigens (FGia Ag) in cat’s feces samples. Test results are available within 5-10 minutes.

PRINCIPLE

The “Feline Giardia (FGia Ag) Rapid Test” is an immunochromatographic membrane assay designed with highly sensitive monoclonal antibodies to detect Feline Giardia lamblia antigens (FGia Ag). The test strip consists of several components: a sample pad, reagent pad, reaction membrane, and absorbing pad. The reagent pad contains colloidal gold-conjugated monoclonal antibodies specific to FGia Ag, while the reaction membrane has pre-coated monoclonal antibodies, also specific to FGia Ag, on the test line (T). The whole strip is fixed inside a plastic device. When the sample is added, it migrates along the strip via capillary action. The colloidal gold particles bind with FGia Ag (if present) in the sample. As the sample moves, the antigen-antibody complex binds and accumulates to the pre-coated antibodies on the test line (T). If FGia Ag are present, a visible colored line appears, indicating a positive result. A red line in the control line region (C) serves as a procedural control, confirming sufficient sample volume and successful membrane wicking.
