Product Description
- INTENDED USE
The Veterinary T4 Rapid Test is a fluorescence-based immunoassay designed for the quantitative measurement of Thyroxine (T4) in canine and feline serum or plasma. This test provides veterinarians with a rapid and accurate tool to:
- Diagnose hypothyroidism in dogs and hyperthyroidism in cats.
- Monitor thyroid hormone replacement therapy (e.g., response to levothyroxine treatment).
- Evaluate overall thyroid function in routine health screenings or pre-surgical assessments.
Note: For veterinary diagnostic use only. Not for human testing.
- TEST PRINCIPLE
The test employs a competitive fluorescence immunoassay method:
- Competitive Binding: Endogenous T4 in the sample competes with a fluorescently labeled T4 analog for binding sites on anti-T4 antibodies immobilized on the test strip.
- Signal Detection: The fluorescence intensity is inversely proportional to the T4 concentration in the sample (higher T4 = lower fluorescence).
- Quantitative Results: A portable fluorescence reader measures the signal and calculates T4 levels within 8–12 minutes, with a detection range of 5–120 nmol/L.
Key Advantages:
- High Specificity: Minimal cross-reactivity with T3 or other thyroid metabolites.
- Wide Dynamic Range: Covers clinically relevant T4 levels for both dogs and cats.
- Stable Fluorescence Signal: Reduces variability compared to traditional ELISA methods.
For optimal performance, use fresh or properly stored serum/plasma samples and follow manufacturer instructions.
