Product Description
- INTENDED USE
The SDMA Rapid Test is a fluorescence-based immunoassay designed for the quantitative measurement of Symmetric Dimethylarginine (SDMA) in canine and feline serum or plasma. This test provides veterinarians with an essential tool to:
- Detect early renal dysfunction (SDMA rises earlier than creatinine in chronic kidney disease).
- Monitor kidney disease progression and treatment efficacy.
- Assess renal health in aging pets or breeds predisposed to kidney conditions.
Note: For veterinary diagnostic use only. An important adjunct to traditional renal biomarkers.
- TEST PRINCIPLE
The test utilizes a competitive fluorescence immunoassay methodology:
- Sample Incubation: SDMA in the sample competes with fluorescently labeled SDMA tracer for binding sites on anti-SDMA antibodies immobilized on the test strip.
- Fluorescence Measurement: Bound tracer generates a signal inversely proportional to SDMA concentration (higher SDMA = lower fluorescence).
- Precision Analysis: A dedicated reader quantifies SDMA levels within 10-15 minutes with a sensitive detection range of 2-100 μg/dL.
Key Features:
- Early Biomarker: Detects ~40% renal function loss vs creatinine’s ~75% threshold.
- Species-Specific: Validated for both dogs and cats with ≤5% cross-reactivity to ADMA.
- Stable Performance: Fluorescent labels provide superior stability vs enzymatic methods.
For optimal results: Use fresh samples, avoid hemolysis, and calibrate reader per manufacturer guidelines.
