Product Description
- INTENDED USE
The Veterinary Cortisol Rapid Test is a fluorescence-based immunoassay designed for quantitative measurement of cortisol in canine, feline, and equine serum, plasma, or saliva. This test provides veterinarians with a reliable tool to:
- Diagnose adrenal disorders (e.g., Cushing’s syndrome or Addison’s disease)
- Monitor stress responses in hospitalized or transported animals
- Evaluate HPA axis function during ACTH stimulation tests or low-dose dexamethasone suppression tests
- Assess welfare status in working animals (e.g., police dogs, racehorses)
Note: For veterinary diagnostic use only. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical signs and other diagnostic tests.
- TEST PRINCIPLE
The test utilizes a competitive fluorescence immunoassay format:
- Sample Incubation: Cortisol in the sample competes with a fluorescently-labeled cortisol derivative for binding sites on anti-cortisol antibodies immobilized on the test strip.
- Competitive Binding: The fluorescence signal intensity is inversely proportional to cortisol concentration in the sample (higher cortisol = lower fluorescence).
- Quantitative Measurement: A portable fluorescence reader provides precise cortisol values within 10-15 minutes, with a broad detection range of 1-800 nmol/L.
Key Features:
- Multi-Sample Compatibility: Validated for serum, plasma, and saliva matrices
- High Sensitivity: Detects physiological cortisol variations (LLOQ: 1 nmol/L)
- Minimal Cross-Reactivity: <5% with corticosterone, progesterone, and other steroids
- Temperature-Stable: Fluorescent labels maintain stability across various field conditions
For optimal results, follow manufacturer recommendations for sample collection and storage conditions.
