Product Description
The Canine Rotavirus Antigen (Rota Ag) Rapid Test is a fluorescence-based immunoassay designed for the qualitative detection of rotavirus antigen in canine fecal samples. This test provides veterinarians with a rapid and reliable diagnostic tool to:
- Diagnose acute rotavirus infections in dogs, especially puppies and immunocompromised animals.
- Support differential diagnosis of viral enteritis (e.g., distinguishing from parvovirus or coronavirus infections).
- Monitor outbreaks in kennels or animal shelters for early intervention.
Note: For veterinary diagnostic use only. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical signs and other diagnostic tests.
- TEST PRINCIPLE
The test is based on a sandwich fluorescence immunoassay method:
- Sample Application: Fecal supernatant is added to the test device, where rotavirus antigens (if present) bind to anti-rotavirus antibodies conjugated with fluorescent nanoparticles.
- Lateral Flow: The antigen-antibody complex migrates along the strip and is captured by a second anti-rotavirus antibody immobilized at the test line.
- Fluorescence Detection: A handheld reader quantifies the fluorescence signal at the test line, providing objective, qualitative results within 10 minutes.
Key Features:
- High Sensitivity: Detects low levels of rotavirus antigen (limit of detection: 1 × 10³ viral particles/g feces).
- Minimal Cross-Reactivity: No interference with other common canine enteric pathogens (e.g., parvovirus, coronavirus).
- User-Friendly: Eliminates subjective interpretation common in colloidal gold tests.
For accurate results, use fresh or properly stored fecal samples and follow the manufacturer’s protocol.
