Product Description
- INTENDED USE
The TRF Ag Rapid Test is a fluorescence-based immunoassay designed for the qualitative detection of Tritrichomonas foetus antigen in feline fecal samples. This test enables veterinarians to:
- Diagnose Tritrichomonas foetus infection, a common cause of chronic large-bowel diarrhea in cats
- Screen asymptomatic carrier cats in multi-cat households or catteries
- Monitor treatment efficacy for infected cats receiving antiprotozoal therapy
Note: For veterinary diagnostic use only. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical signs and other diagnostic methods.
- TEST PRINCIPLE
The test utilizes an immunochromatographic fluorescence assay format:
- Sample Application: Fecal extract is applied to the test device, where TRF antigens (if present) bind to fluorescent nanoparticle-conjugated anti-TRF antibodies
- Lateral Flow: The antigen-antibody complexes migrate along the strip and are captured by immobilized anti-TRF antibodies at the test line
- Fluorescence Detection: A specialized reader quantifies the fluorescence signal at the test line, with results available in 8-10 minutes
Key Features:
- High Sensitivity (92-95%): Detects low levels of TRF antigen, superior to direct microscopy
- Excellent Specificity (98-99%): No cross-reactivity with Giardia or other enteric parasites
- Stable Results: Fluorescent signal remains stable for documentation purposes
- Easy Interpretation: Clear positive/negative results via automated reader output
For optimal performance, use fresh fecal samples (preferably diarrheic) and follow the manufacturer’s sample preparation protocol exactly.
