Product Description
- INTENDED USE
The FIV Ab Rapid Test is a fluorescence-based immunoassay designed for the qualitative detection of antibodies against Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) in feline whole blood, serum, or plasma. This test provides veterinarians with:
- Early screening for FIV infection in cats
- Differentiation between vaccinated and infected cats (when used with PCR confirmation)
- Health status evaluation for multi-cat households or shelter environments
Note: For veterinary diagnostic use only. Positive results should be confirmed by Western blot or PCR.
- TEST PRINCIPLE
The test utilizes a lateral flow fluorescence immunoassay method:
- Sample Application: The specimen migrates along the test strip, where FIV antibodies (if present) bind to:
- Fluorescent conjugate: Anti-feline IgG labeled with europium nanoparticles
- Capture antigen: Recombinant FIV p24 and gp40 proteins immobilized on the test line
- Signal Generation:
- Positive samples form a fluorescent “sandwich complex” at the test line
- An internal control line validates proper test performance
- Result Interpretation:
- A portable fluorescence reader objectively measures signal intensity at 615 nm
- Results are available in 8-10 minutes with >99% agreement to ELISA
Key Features:
- High Sensitivity: Detects antibodies as early as 4 weeks post-exposure
- Dual Protein Recognition: Minimizes false negatives from viral strain variations
- Stable Signal: Fluorescent nanoparticles resist hook effect at high antibody titers
For optimal results, use fresh samples (EDTA whole blood preferred) and follow recommended storage conditions for test cassettes.
