Product Description
- INTENDED USE
The fGIA Ag Rapid Test is a fluorescence-based immunoassay designed for the qualitative detection of Giardia intestinalis-specific antigens in feline fecal samples. This test provides veterinarians with:
- Rapid diagnosis of active Giardia infection in cats
- Differentiation from other causes of diarrhea (e.g., dietary, viral, or bacterial)
- Monitoring of treatment efficacy and potential reinfections
Note: For veterinary diagnostic use only. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical signs and other diagnostic methods.
- TEST PRINCIPLE
The test utilizes a sandwich fluorescence immunoassay format:
- Sample Application: Fecal extract is added to the test device, where Giardia antigens (if present) bind to anti-Giardia monoclonal antibodies conjugated with fluorescent nanoparticles.
- Lateral Flow: The antigen-antibody complex migrates to the test line containing immobilized anti-Giardia antibodies, forming a fluorescent “sandwich” complex.
- Detection: A portable fluorescence reader quantifies the signal intensity at 530nm excitation, providing:
- Qualitative results (Positive/Negative) within 10 minutes
- High sensitivity (detects as few as 5 cysts per 100μL sample)
Key Features:
- Species-specific: Detects feline Giardia variants (Assemblage F)
- No cross-reactivity: With other common feline parasites (e.g., Toxocara, Coccidia)
- Room temperature storage: Stable for 24 months at 2-30°C
For optimal results:
- Use fresh or properly preserved fecal samples
- Follow recommended sample preparation procedures
- Interpret results within the specified time window
