Product Description
- INTENDED USE
The FCV Ag Rapid Test is a fluorescence-based immunoassay designed for the qualitative detection of Feline Calicivirus (FCV) antigen in feline ocular/nasal secretions, saliva, or plasma. This test assists veterinarians in:
- Rapid diagnosis of active FCV infection (associated with upper respiratory disease, oral ulcerations, or limping syndrome).
- Early outbreak control in multi-cat environments (shelters/catteries).
- Differentiating FCV from other feline respiratory pathogens (e.g., herpesvirus, Chlamydia).
Note: For veterinary point-of-care use. Results should be interpreted with clinical signs and epidemiological data.
- TEST PRINCIPLE
The test utilizes a lateral flow fluorescence immunoassay:
- Sample Application: FCV antigens bind to fluorescent nanoparticle-conjugated anti-FCV monoclonal antibodies in the conjugate pad.
- Immunochromatography: The complex migrates to the test line, where it is captured by immobilized anti-FCV antibodies, forming a fluorescent “sandwich.”
- Result Interpretation: A handheld fluorescence reader quantifies the signal at 465 nm excitation, providing objective results within 10 minutes (visual readout also available).
Key Features:
- High Sensitivity (92% vs. PCR): Detects FCV even in early infection stages.
- Strain Coverage: Recognizes multiple FCV genotypes (including vaccine strains).
- No Prozone Effect: Fluorescence detection avoids hook effects at high antigen concentrations.
*Store at 2–30°C. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles for swab samples.*
