Product Description
- INTENDED USE
The Canine Babesia Antibody (Bab Ab) Rapid Test is a fluorescence-based immunoassay designed for the qualitative detection of antibodies against Babesia spp. in canine whole blood, serum, or plasma. This test assists veterinarians in:
- Screening for Babesia infection (including B. canis, B. gibsoni, and other species)
- Supporting clinical diagnosis of canine babesiosis (especially in cases with compatible symptoms like fever, anemia, or thrombocytopenia)
- Monitoring seroconversion during treatment or follow-up testing
Note: For veterinary diagnostic use only. A positive result indicates exposure to Babesia spp. but does not distinguish between active infection and previous exposure. Clinical correlation is recommended.
- TEST PRINCIPLE
The test utilizes an indirect fluorescence immunoassay format:
- Antigen-Coated Strip: Recombinant Babesia-specific antigens are immobilized on the test strip.
- Antibody Binding: If present in the sample, anti-Babesia antibodies bind to the immobilized antigens.
- Fluorescent Detection: A secondary antibody conjugated with fluorescent nanoparticles binds to the canine IgG, forming a detectable complex.
- Result Interpretation: Fluorescence intensity is measured by a portable reader, providing:
- Qualitative results (Positive/Negative) within 10–15 minutes
- Semi-quantitative index value (S/CO ratio) for antibody level estimation
Key Features:
- High Sensitivity: Detects early seroconversion (7–10 days post-infection)
- Broad Detection: Covers multiple Babesia species pathogenic to dogs
- Minimal Interference: No cross-reactivity with antibodies against Ehrlichia or Anaplasma
For optimal performance, use fresh samples and follow the manufacturer’s recommended storage and handling procedures.
