Product Description

  1. INTENDED USE

The Canine Babesia Antibody (Bab Ab) Rapid Test is a fluorescence-based immunoassay designed for the qualitative detection of antibodies against Babesia spp. in canine whole blood, serum, or plasma. This test assists veterinarians in:

  • Screening for Babesia infection (including B. canisB. gibsoni, and other species)
  • Supporting clinical diagnosis of canine babesiosis (especially in cases with compatible symptoms like fever, anemia, or thrombocytopenia)
  • Monitoring seroconversion during treatment or follow-up testing

Note: For veterinary diagnostic use only. A positive result indicates exposure to Babesia spp. but does not distinguish between active infection and previous exposure. Clinical correlation is recommended.

  1. TEST PRINCIPLE

The test utilizes an indirect fluorescence immunoassay format:

  1. Antigen-Coated Strip: Recombinant Babesia-specific antigens are immobilized on the test strip.
  2. Antibody Binding: If present in the sample, anti-Babesia antibodies bind to the immobilized antigens.
  3. Fluorescent Detection: A secondary antibody conjugated with fluorescent nanoparticles binds to the canine IgG, forming a detectable complex.
  4. Result Interpretation: Fluorescence intensity is measured by a portable reader, providing:
    • Qualitative results (Positive/Negative) within 10–15 minutes
    • Semi-quantitative index value (S/CO ratio) for antibody level estimation

Key Features:

  • High Sensitivity: Detects early seroconversion (7–10 days post-infection)
  • Broad Detection: Covers multiple Babesia species pathogenic to dogs
  • Minimal Interference: No cross-reactivity with antibodies against Ehrlichia or Anaplasma

For optimal performance, use fresh samples and follow the manufacturer’s recommended storage and handling procedures.
